Family Medicine Physician & Faculty, Amery Hospital & Clinics

Dr. Johnson is a board certified family medicine physician who joined Amery Hospital & Clinic medical staff in 1984. He currently serves as Amery Hospital & Clinic Chief of Staff, Medical Director for the Behavioral Health Center of Amery Hospital & Clinic and Primary Care recruitment coordinator. As a family medicine physician, he likes seeing people of all ages and enjoys caring for the entire family.

Dr. Johnson served as Amery Hospital & Clinic’s Chief Medical Officer for ten years and as a hospital board member. He has also served on the Polk County Public Health Advisory Committee and Community Referral Agency Board of Directors.

He graduated magna cum laude from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1976 with a bachelor’s degree in biology and completed his medical degree at the University of Minnesota. He completed his Family Medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin Family Medicine Residency in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Dr. Johnson and his wife reside in Amery. They have three children and five grandchildren. He has special interests in wound care, diabetes , geriatrics, and preventive medicine. He also enjoys hunting , fishing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and bicycling.
